Vows, Readings & Music

During the initial information exchange, Tim encourages couples to consider their vow exchange, the meaning of the vows, and whether they would like to customise or write their own vows. You can read more about vow exchange in the section labelled Marriage Vows .

In addition, Tim encourages couples to consider the content of any readings that may be performed, who will do the readings, and how any texts will be collected. You can read more about readings and some of the available material in the section labelled Readings.

Finally, Tim encourages couples to consider their ceremony music, what style and theme will be incorporated, and when specific music will be played. You can read more about music and some of the available material in the section labelled Music.

Statutory Legal Requirements

Whilst there is plenty of room during a ceremony to be creative, there is also several legal requirements which Tim will guide you through. You can read more about the legal requirements in the section labelled Getting Married.

Rehearsal Ceremony

Whilst your initial meeting with Tim will cover most of your ceremony, there will be a need to perform a rehearsal prior to the actual event.

The purpose of this rehearsal is to ensure that any persons involved in the ceremony know where to stand, what to say, and when to say it. This is is also a great opportunity to settle any nerves. See the section labelled 'Rehearsal'

Actual Ceremony

On the day of the actual marriage ceremony, Tim will arrive about 15 - 30 minutes prior to the event. This provides enough time to setup the signing table for the marriage certificates, position the lectern (if applicable), connect the audio speakers and microphone, queue any music that is to be played, and organise any people that will be reading.

To find out how Tim conducts a ceremony from start to finish, please read the section labelled Marriage Ceremony Sample.

Related to Legalities

Firstly, gay same sex marriages are generally referred to as a committment ceremonies, and secondly there is no legal paperwork. The wording during a gay union must be different to a legal civil union, whilst there is also no government marriage certificate issued. There is also no filing with Births Deaths and Marriages after the ceremony, because the Australian government does not currently recognised gay same sex marriages as legal. Need to know more?
